Industry 4.0 : ways of improving teaching and identifying for development in college by challenge and changes to improve the professional skill

The aim of this paper is to show the Industry 4.0 in the future development especially in supporting students in college to improve their professional skill. The changes in learning accordance with the 4.0 will have an impact to the role of education, especially for the the role of the educator. There are three important things that need to be responded for supporting students for improving skills, that are college must apply the hybrid teaching system, thinking about the establishment of online lecture quality assurance institution, and organizing knowledge dissemination online. Education also has to prepare the career guidance dan career development of students, prioritize more on the competency of graduate than diploma, making an access for global education, improve the personal development especially abou social skills. The important challenge for college is producing research. This research is one of the value thing especially for research college The changes and disruotions in education system both directly and indirectly are also the result of the research process. A student have to have an ability for surviving, survival, not give up easily for facing every circumstance.

Industrial revolution always  alongside with emergence of new economy, the combination of digitalization, millennial generation, and industrial revolution raises the creative industry that the key of individual creativity that are supported by the development of digital technology. The changes in learning accordance with the 4.0 will have an impact to the role of education, especially for the the role of the educator. If the educator still retains as a deliver knowledge, they will lose their role along the development of technology and changes the learning methods. This condition have to be overcome by increasing the competency of educator who support the knowledge for exploration and creation through independent learning. The definition of  new competencies must be found by research about seven domains in the competency of teaching educators. Based on Ye (2017) states that the seven domains are teaching design, teaching and learning guidance, research on teaching content, research on teaching methods, career and interpersonal relationship guidance, management support for school and class, cooperation.

In addition to the role of educator, education also has to prepare the career guidance dan career development of students, prioritize more on the competency of graduate than diploma, making an access for global education, improve the personal development especially abou social skills. Moreover, institutional arrangements, the existing of study program that do not need anymore must change with new study program, but adjust for something new into the existing study program, improve the education performance to the higher level by applying the problem solving and system learning method, and the linkages with industry that needs for employment.

The most important thing for facing the industrial 4.0 is how the college has an active role for solving every national problem. Based on that, it could be a very big challenge. It becomes difficult when the development of digital technology and artificial intelligence have changed the data becomes information. This condition makes people have an easy access and also cheap to get information needs. The transformation certainly influence the college’s working procedure as one of the information resources that have to adapt for the convenience itself. 

The positive impact of the industrial 4.0 is every side has to face the challenges and changes. The college has to be challenged to continue the roles, such as education and teaching, development, and also dissemination as a repository for society. Related to this, there are three important things that need to be responded. The first thing to do is college must apply the hybrid teaching system. College must has a good respond for the development of the role of technology. In this case, it starts with application of learning technology or also known as massive open online courses. In other side, this method can not apply in every subject in college because it needs skill training that depends on laboratory equipment or needs close communication with lecturers or high level lecturers and postgraduates who are followed by a few students.

The second thing to do is thinking about the establishment of online lecture quality assurance institution. The institution can be formed between colleges and goverments that have roles for giving collateral in job market about the graduate ability for filling the employment needs. The kind of this certification is needed when a student has most of the academic burden which is taken from various sources.

The third thing to do is organizing knowledge dissemination online. In dissemination, the kind of knowledge that was delivered has a different with a lecture. In this case, the material is prepared for making students by giving them knowledge about practical things that are faced it. In addition to students, lecturers also get considerable attention for pushing the changed of lecturers need two ways. Specifically, decrease the burden of lecturers but they are still pushed to join the training about lates teaching method. This is has to be admitted, so far there are many lecturer only read note or book in the class, especially in regional colleges. Assuredly, it doesn’t have a benefit in international rules. The other side is how to push the lecturer for being a multitalent persons. Facing this disruptive change, lecturer has to have more than one sector of knowledge. It is theoretical and practical and also known as abilities or skills. In the future, lecturer has to know various topics in a multi, inter, to transdisciplinary manner.

The important challenge for college is producing research. This research is one of the value thing especially for research college. The research has to dynamic and also can be adapted in every condition, include education system in trans, inter, and multidisciplinary, ability for having good cooperation, and use the data in a huge amount. The changes and disruotions in education system both directly and indirectly are also the result of the research process. Aside from preparing the responsive steps to respond the challenges, college also must instill five basic values to equip students for facing the changes, that are resilience, adaptivity, integrity, competency, and continuous improvement. The durability and resilience need in the midst of uncertainly, competitive climate, and various economic shock, cultural clashes, and the existence of disruptive inovation.

A student have to have an ability for surviving, survival, not give up easily for facing every circumstance. Furthermore, adaptivity that push a student to be able to adapt or adjust to changes that occur in domestic and international levels. While for Integrity, student must uphold the personal and professional integrity, such as honesty, tolerance, help each other, and professional.  

The policy of giving a strict sanction for every violation of rule and law enforcement  firmly will make students to be a integrity individuals. Afterwards, competency, where students have to have ability for another competence and qualification in other way, so they don’t have a narrow minded. The policy of providing flexibility and obliging the students for taking another subject in other side is one of the way to improve competency and knowledge in across way. Meanwhile, continous improvement is more prepared the students to become a truly learners in order to make improvements in their ways.
